It is amazing when you see these through the viewfinder. It's like if the world around you has shrunk, and everything changes of scale. Going from one flower to another is like traversing a city...

Today I spent one hour playing with these two.
Olympus OM-2: Seems like a very well built camera. Nice handling and shutter sound. Also a great viewfinder, information and interface. I didn't know it does not have a split prism (only a fresnel), and I have to get used to it, as it seems to be harder with low light than with a split prism. Otherwise, I have put a film in it, and we'll see the results...
Lubitel 166u: Well... you cannot say it's a quality camera. It's like a small shoe box. The viewfinder is not dim, but small and difficult to see the whole picture while you're focusing. Focusing is difficult, but it can be done accurately. Composing is the hardest part, because as the viewing lens is so small, you lose part of the scene if you don't look exactly from above the waist level viewfinder. Anyway, I spent a nice time with it... As I couldn't find any descriptive information (aka. images) on how to load the film and advance it, I advanced two frames without noticing it, thinking that it will stop when a new frame is ready. I was wrong. You have to LOOK through the back red window to see when a new frame is ready... Well. Nobody's perfect and I only lost two frames. I've seen I can attach a remote cable release to it. Very convenient, as the shutter is difficult to press...
The important thing: I having fun :)
Nikon F90x + Provia 100F + Canoscan 8400f + Nikon Capture NX
Well, I have to admit I'm REALLY surprised by the results. It's the second time in my life that I use slides, and this time I used a Provia 100F. The results are amazing, and the scanner did a pretty good job on this one. I was hoping to get very good sky colors and such, but I have to admit that this goes beyond I imaged I would get with film.
Don't get me wrong... I started in photography two years ago, and never used film before, so I still had to get things like this to justify the cost of developing slides (12€/roll) plus the roll itself (10€)...
Near Caravaca, when Óscar and I went to take photos...
BTW, the F90x is such a nice piece of engineering...

While reviewing this month's book on great Magnum photographers (this time about Bruno Barbey), I realized he was holding a camera (Nikkormat?) with a lens very similar to one I own myself (Nikkor-P-C-Auto 85mmf/1.8). Would it be the same? I don't know. At least it was nice to see that similar equipment was used by great photographers somewhere sometime.
